KUALA LUMPUR, 8th October 2016 – Holding their concert for the fifth year running, the Special Needs Children of Taarana School put on a spectacular show for their families, and well-wishers by expressing themselves through artistic means.

Featuring a bevy of traditional dances in line with this year’s ‘Cultural Unity’ theme, the students went all out with traditional dances, namely the Terengganu-traditional Ulik Mayang dance, Kuda Kepang dance, Chinese lantern dance, and the Chinese fan and ribbon dance. The event held at the SJK (C) Chung Kwo Auditorium, in Kuala Lumpur garnered the attention and adoration of the audience of about 300 who were present at the musical affair.

The concert proved to be a moving one, especially given that many students with learning disabilities have hurdles to overcome when expressing themselves or communicating with their peers and family members. The children’s exceedingly entertaining performance on stage displayed a great accomplishment as they overcame all odds to show their loved ones what they are truly capable of.

“The students here have been working diligently to put on a good performance for their loved ones during this concert. We are very proud of how far they have come, clearly through their dedication towards making this concert a success. Each year, we see a different light in them and this year, we watched them glow in Malaysia’s cultural splendour,” said Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran, Chairperson of Vijayaratnam Foundation.

“Taarana endeavours to assist these children to assimilate into society and to learn how to be independent, and musical performances like these help build their confidence. This concert is a means to showcase their skills and hidden talents and we could not be any happier with what has taken place today. Seeing the smiles on their faces and that of their family and friends is what keeps us going, she added.

Also present at the musical event were the Founders, Directors and staff of the QI Group of companies. The Group Executive Chairman, Dato Sri Vijay Eswaran, commended all who had contributed to the betterment of the Taarana students through their contributions, patience and above all, love.
